3D modelling with 2D laser and IMU
Having cheap 3D scanner is quite hard nowadays. This module tries to solve this issue by incorporating cheap 2D laser scanner and IMU to build a quality 3D map. It uses Scanse Sweep rotating 2D laser to build 2D map, while employing a standard Pololu MinIMU-9 to obtain angle information that is used to associate 2D planes to 3D environment. The system is designed to be reconfigurable, i.e. other 2D lasers and other IMUs can be used. It is easily connected to standard ROS environment, and can be installed on any robotic system of any type, e.g. Octorotor UAV etc.

Jasmin Velagic, Dinko Osmankovic
Jasmin Velagic is a professor of robotics and mechatronics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Sarajevo and head of the Department of Automatic Control and Electronics. He received a MSc degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, Croatia in 1999 and a Ph.D. degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Sarajevo, in 2005. His research is mainly focuses on intelligent control, mobile robotics, industrial automation, adaptive and robust control. He has published over 100 papers in journals, book chapters and conference proceedings. Over the last past years my research group (LARAS) has developed several mobile robot platforms and multirotor systems as well as a series of innovative techniques for the robot localization, path planning and 3D modelling of outdoor environments. Prof. Velagic Dr. Velagic is a member of IEEE Control System, IEEE Robotics and Automation and IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Societies.
Dinko Osmankovic is with the University of Sarajevo, Faculty of Electrical Engineering. He received his PhD in 2015 at the University of Sarajevo. He is currently employed as assistant professor at the Department of Automatic Control and Electronics. His research interests include 3D thermal mapping, data analysis, machine intelligence and graph theory. He is the member of IEEE Robotics and Automation Society.
